Quantity: 2 |
Brown leather chinstrap for the WW2 officer's cap. Excellent condition.
| Anklets, web | | Item No: 599 |
Quantity: 1 |
Pair of wartime gaiters in a sand finish. They belonged to a Royal Artillery officer who served in WW2. There is a mouse nibble on one leather tab as you can see, otherwise fine. The owner, Captain Jack Humphries, taught my dad at school in the 1950s!
| Early war Battledress trousers,w34. | | Item No: 597 |
Quantity: 1 |
These are the early war issue BD trousers for Other Ranks and are British not Dominions manufacture. They have belt loops and tabs and the early single pleat field dressing pocket. Three nips, one below the side pocket which has been darned (trousers were family acquired so this would have been done by the owner). Then in the fork, we have 2 moth holes, well they are not fully holes, you could draw these together quite effectively. Wear to the nap in places, the original paper/calico label has long gone but the stitching remains on the waistband. Waist measures 34" and inside leg 31".
Very hard to find the early issue trousers now.
| WW2 officer's solar topee | | Item No: 587 |
Quantity: 1 |
Lovely original topee by a Bangalore maker, sized 7 1/8. Owner's name JA CROOKS inside so is researchable, with (original to the topee)formation sign.
A real sleeper this one, never been messed about with. Nice overall patina, you could clean it but presonally I'd leave it just as it is. Excellent original condition.
| WW2 officer's shirt | | Item No: 579 |
Quantity: 1 |
This is an officer's private purchase Van Heusen 'Service' shirt, it is a size 16 collar and chest about 42.
Excellent condition | |
| WW2 Commando jumper | | Item No: 576 |
Quantity: 1 |
OK, this is a wartime RN woollen jumper but they were worn by Commandoes and RAF pilots so it has a wide appeal with collectors. If you see this item listed elsewhere on my site, don't order it twice, I only have one. Size about 40 chest, maybe 42. Has a darn on the back of the roll neck (see first small pic) and occasional moth nips but nothing serious and could be drawn together if so wished. Never plentiful even years ago, very hard to find them now.
| Patrol belt and epaulettes | | Item No: 535 |
Quantity: 1 |
Black belt and matching epps for a Captain. These came with a load of officer's kit but the actual patrol jacket wasn't there! Excellent condition.
| Other Ranks tropical Khaki shirt. | | Item No: 275 |
Quantity: 1 |
This is the early war issue half fronted khaki shirt, made in aertex material and complete with detachable epaulettes. It is size 1 but shirts in the British Army are sized by their collar so the body of the shirt will comfortably fit a 40 chest, just that you have to wear it open and with the sleeves rolled (which is what they did in the war, see the WW2 photo). Undated but the pattern changed mid way through the war so this would be no later than 1942. Excellent condition.
