| WW2 Blackout light | | Item No: 178 |
Quantity: 1 |
Wartime lamp for the home during blackout. It has a tiny bulb anyway but it is heavily shielded by a long bakelite cover. The lamp is unused and complete with its original box. There is a tiny Osram card label fitted round the bulb base. To have survived this well, it must be ex-shop stock. Excellent condition, no problems.
| WW2 canning machine | | Item No: 176 |
Quantity: 1 |
Preservation of foodstuffs assumed high importantance in WW2. Here we have a home front canning machine. It is complete with instructions, they are quite scruffy but all there and 2 cans as well.
Heavy item, I will send as cheaply as possible but its not really suitable for overseas customers. Photo to be added on September 8th.
| Dusk till Dawn. A G Street. | | Item No: 175 |
Quantity: 1 |
Fictional account of the Sedgebury Wallop platoon. Publ. Sept 1943, hb, dj, 136 pages. I have put a clear plastic cover around the dj, it protects it but isnt stuck to it so you can remove if so desired.
| Pop Annual | | Item No: 173 |
Quantity: 1 |
Pop was a Daily Sketch cartoon. Here is the annual, its undated but definitely wartime published; everyone is in FS caps so its earlier in the war rather than later. Pages aren't numbered but looks to be about 100. Softback, excellent condition.
| Air Raid Warden's helmet | | Item No: 172 |
Quantity: 1 |
This is the early issue with the padded liner, by VERO and dated 1938. The date is clear but I couldn't get a good picture last night. Helmet has some rust as you can see. The inner shell is green so this was originally a military example which was used by the ARP, you will often see this on the early ARP helmets.
| ARP lamp and box | | Item No: 167 |
Quantity: 1 |
Lamp is near mint, stores box has some discolouration but rarely seen as nice as this.
| WW2 Red Cross / SJAB fork | | Item No: 166 |
Quantity: 1 |
Solid nickel fork for the combined war organisation of Red Cross and St John's Ambulance Brigade. Excellent condition, unusual.
| WW2 women's Red Cross hat | | Item No: 165 |
Quantity: 1 |
Similar in style to the ATS hat, here we have a Red Cross example. The hat bands on these vary, some have no band, others have different colours. This must indicate a system of rank with the Red Cross but I don't know any more than that!
Inside it has the BRCS markings and maker details. There is a moth graze and a small area of loss on the chinstrap (could be boot-blacked in). Excellent condition.
| Householder's ARP chart | | Item No: 162 |
Quantity: 1 |
How to gas-proof a room. This fold out chart, about A3 size is printed on thin card with 2 sides devoted to a diagram of a room and all the preparations required in case of a gas attack. Generally excellent condition.
| WW2 sign: AIR RAID WARDENS' POST | | Item No: 158 |
Quantity: 1 |
Bakelite sign for a Wardens' post with white inset lettering. Brown bakelite is naturally dark so I had to scan with lots of light, hence the white paint looks brighter than it is in reality. Measures 21cm by 6cm. Excellent condition. | | 1| 2 Next >>
